Martini

Martini Drinks - Cocktails

One of the most famous and classic drinks an awesome party should have is the Martini. I don’t know about you but if James Bond is so fond of it, why shouldn’t everybody else, right? This type of drink exudes elegance and sexiness to it. And it is no surprise that it has become one of the best known mixed alcoholic drinks for many years.

Its Origin

The exact origin of the Martini is unfortunately unknown and unclear, however, there had been several theories of where it all began. The most famous theory is that it originated or evolved from a drink called the Martinez which is a popular drink back in the 1860s and was served at a hotel in San Francisco.

This drink is said to have been named after the town nearby which is Martinez, California. The town’s people claimed that a local bartender invented the drink, hence it was named Martinez. Over the years, there had been many drinks similar to the modern-day version of Martini but the very first documented dry martini was linked to a bartender in New York back in 1911.

Surprisingly, it was believed that the Mojito was originally concocted to serve as a medical drink to treat tropical illnesses. However, another theory suggests that the Mojito got its name from Mojo which is a Cuban seasoning created from a lime.
